Dakota Fanning‘s biggest thriller series to date works because of its strong ensemble, who anchor a must-watch story and make every new plot twist land as hard as the material asks for. At 32, Fanning has already built quite a career in Hollywood for herself. That includes starring in some of the best thriller series released in the last few years.
Two of those come from Netflix’s TV show roster, as Fanning plays key roles in Ripley and The Perfect Couple. Those two series had great casts, with actors like Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Andrew Scott, John Malkovich, Meghann Fahy, and many more appearing in the two shows. However, neither of those thriller series came close to the success of Fanning’s latest.
2025’s All Her Fault marked Fanning’s latest TV project, with the show quickly becoming Peacock’s biggest series launch of all time. In the thriller series, Fanning gives life to Jenny Kaminski, a mom who is the only friend of Sarah Snook’s Marissa Irvine, helping her deal with the kidnapping of her son, Milo.
All Her Fault is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Andrea Mara. The Peacock thriller series has been nominated for several awards at prestigious ceremonies like the Critics’ Choice Television Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, and The Actor Awards. It became a smash hit due to its mysterious story filled with twists and a magnetic cast among the genre’s best.
Dakota Fanning’s Hit Thriller Series Hinges On A Solid Cast
While Milo’s disappearance creates a solid launching pad for the thriller series, it would all come crashing down in episode 1 if All Her Fault had not cast the perfect Marissa Irvine. Sarah Snook manages to make the desperate mother instantly relatable, charming, and utterly impossible to look away from. A few other members of the cast play equally key roles in the show’s success.
Jake Lacy has been cast as a prick so many times, and once again, he does a wonderful job by peeling back Peter Irvine’s layers and revealing what a dark character he is. Michael Peña’s Detective Alcara is a good man who is faced with a complex problem and always keeps the audience on his side.
Sophia Lillis’ Carrie Finch gets one of the most nuanced roles of the show, and All Her Fault story’s landing hinged mostly on her shoulders. Without Lillis’ magnetic performance in both flashbacks and in present-day scenes, the thriller series’ climax would not hit as hard as it does. Finally, Fanning plays a lovable character whom viewers hope to see finally thriving throughout the whole show.
Why All Her Fault Has One The Genre’s Best Casts
All Her Fault‘s casting department did a fantastic job, as the actors delivered on every level, becoming one of the genre’s best. The Peacock thriller series made the right move by picking Snook right after Succession, as well as nabbing thriller genre darling Fanning for an important supporting role.
Casting stars from The Bear, The White Lotus, the MCU, and more successful projects also helped make All Her Fault stand out. So far, Michael Peña and Sophia Lillis have been nominated for their work on the show, while Sarah Snook has both won and been nominated for awards. This cements All Her Fault‘s cast as the perfect one for the show.
